Device compatibility also varies by country. eSIM is not available on iPhones in mainland China. For example, iPhone XS, XS Max, and XR models sold in China, Macao, and Hong Kong are not eSIM compatible (these are dual-SIM phones with two physical SIM slots). Your device must be unlocked, and the iOS version must be updated to 14.1 or newer. You can contact your carrier to find out if your device's eSIM can be unlocked.
