The Deadlock Problem
The main challenge with VPN in countries with censorship is a classic deadlock: you need server access to download the VPN configuration, but the server is blocked without a VPN. How do you set up a VPN when you can't reach the VPN server?
Our Solution: Restricted Region Technology
Our team developed the Restricted Region technology that solves this problem completely. It works automatically on all platforms — iOS, macOS and Android.
How It Works
- On first install, the app checks if our main server is reachable
- If not — Restricted Area mode activates automatically
- The app connects through built-in secure communication channels for initial setup
- The system probes 10+ backup servers across different domains
- If all servers are blocked — a fallback channel through cloud infrastructure kicks in
- After successful setup, the app works in normal mode
The entire process takes 5 to 30 seconds and requires no action from the user. You simply install the app, open it — and it configures itself.
If VPN Stops Working Later
If connection issues arise in the future, you can re-run the setup manually:
- iOS: Settings → Repair Connection
- macOS: Settings → Run Setup Again
- Android: More → Settings → Repair VPN Connection
This will reconnect through a backup VPN profile designed specifically for restricted regions.
Always Up to Date
We constantly update the list of backup servers to ensure access even in the most restricted regions. Each app update may include new backup channels and improved detection algorithms.
Getting the App in Restricted Regions
For iOS and macOS: Simply download from App Store. The app will configure itself automatically.
For Android (if our website is blocked):
- Ask a friend who has access to download the APK and share it with you
- Use any other VPN for the first download
- Download via Telegram — write to our bot @asmovpn_bot
After the first install, all future updates happen directly in the app — no website access needed.
