One of the main problems with VPN in Russia and CIS countries — banks and government sites. You turn on VPN → Sberbank's website won't load, government services are unavailable, the mobile app throws an error. You constantly have to toggle VPN: on for one thing, off for another. It's inconvenient, and many people end up abandoning VPN altogether.
We created Direct Access — a smart traffic routing feature that solves this problem once and for all.
How Direct Access works
Direct Access is domain-level split tunneling. The principle is simple: you specify which sites and domains should connect directly (without VPN), and all other traffic automatically goes through the encrypted VPN tunnel.
Default zones in the app: Russia (.ru and .рф), Belarus (.by), Kazakhstan (.kz), Armenia (.am). Any zone can be toggled with one switch. You can also add specific domains to the exceptions list — your bank, tax service, corporate domain, and any others.
What this means in practice
Imagine: VPN is always on. At the same time:
- Bank (Sberbank, VTB, Tinkoff) — works directly, no delays, no auth blocks
- Government services — open instantly
- YouTube, Instagram (blocked in Russia), foreign sites — through VPN
- Messengers — through VPN
Everything works simultaneously. You don't need to think about whether VPN is on or off — it's always on, but smartly splits the traffic.
Especially important for Russia residents
In Russia, many banks block authorization through foreign IP addresses — it's an anti-fraud measure. With Direct Access, your banking traffic goes directly from your Russian IP, so authorization always works. All other internet — through VPN with a German IP.
Set up once — works forever
Setting up Direct Access takes less than a minute: open the app → Settings → Direct Access → enable the needed zones → optionally add specific domains. After that, nothing else needs to change. The app remembers settings and applies them on every connection.
